The mall's unique design features are its golden color scheme and banyan tree elements. Gold, the theme color of K11’s brand logo, is used throughout the mall, creating a luxurious artistic atmosphere and strengthening brand awareness. The banyan tree concept is incorporated in various design elements such as the light-projected leaves on the ceiling, golden vines on the elevator, wooden column decorations, and the treehouse sky stage.
The Guangzhou K11 Art Mall is not just a shopping center but a space that encourages dialogue with nature. It incorporates urban farming with cultivation methods, an automatic irrigation system, and LED lighting supplementing natural light. This integration of local culture and art inspires visitors to consider their relationship with nature.
The mall, which covers an interior area of about 70,000 sq.m., started in 2012 and was completed in March 2018. It is part of K11's initiative to blend the essential elements of Art, People, and Nature. The brand's international image aligns with the temperament of Guangzhou's central business district, creating a new style of art mall and pioneering the commercial form of museum retail.
Despite the challenges of bringing art back into everyday living, revitalizing local culture, and promoting sustainable practices, K11 has successfully created a space that attracts visitors with its avant-garde green design and sustainable programs. It encourages people to engage in a closer dialogue with nature and contributes to urban cultural revitalization and development.
The Guangzhou K11 Art Mall's unique design and innovative approach to blending art, culture, and lifestyle have earned it prestigious recognition. It was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019, a testament to its outstanding design and significant impact on the world.
